Longing...
by Victoria Loveday
There is a longing in every life A feeling of great desire We would be free now from every strife If we fanned the flames of love's great fire But too often we grow cold and to indifference... we fall Can love's flame return to those who have ignored the call? Who have allowed this great chill within our soul. I do not have answers but this much I do know There is only One love that can ever make us whole And while we cling fast to that which we have desire It is only His great love that can really ignite the fire A fire that burns deeply and cannot be contained no matter the attacks against it It will never refrain from speaking His great mercies His grace, His peace, His love His longing to pour out His blessings in showers from above And if we but listen we will hear love's great call echoing from the past the day they nailed Him to the cross.
