THE TEDDY BEAR
By Kathy S. Norris

In this world that seems so right,
A little child cries in the night...

A little girl bowed on her knees,
To say her bedtime prayer,
"Dear Jesus", she cried softly,
"Do you think Santa...
Could bring me a teddy bear?"

And as she snuggled in her bed,
On this night of Christmas Eve,
She hoped ole' Santa could find her house,
And a bear for her, he'd leave.

She only asked for this one thing,
Oh, surely there somewhere,
Deep down in that great big sack,
He could find a teddy bear.

She knew lots of kids at school,
That were getting lots of toys.
And sometimes she wondered why it was,
That she had so little joy.

You see, she didn't have a daddy,
That lived at home with her.
It was only her and mommy,
And they were very poor.

All the clothes they had,
Came from a local charity.
They were very much in need,
As anyone could see.

But...
God sent a special angel,
On this Christmas Eve!
She brought a cuddly teddy bear,
And at her door did leave.

Was this angel Santa's helper?
No, she was sent from God above.
To give the little girl a smile,
And to fill her heart with love!

A teddy bear and a little girl,
Oh what a sight to see!
A lasting bond began that night,
On that special Christmas Eve!

And the moral of this story is...
If we'd just take a moment,
To look around our world.
We'd see these children crying,
As was this little girl.

They ask for very little.
But we can give so much.
We can give our time,
our love...
Or just a caring touch.

In this world that seems so right
A little child cries in the night...

A Visit With Grandma & Grandpa
by Kathy Norris

Today...
I paid a special visit,
To some folks I never knew,
I felt I needed to go see them,
Just something I felt drawn to do.

I knew they wouldn't be there,
Only a cold headstone,
But I felt a call to go there,
So... I knew I would not be alone.

An angel would go along with me,
She'd take my hand and lead me there,
And together we would find them,
Resting there without a care.

I visited the grave of these dear folks,
Whom I never knew or saw,
Yet I have a special bond to them,
'Cause they're my grandma and grandpa.

No, I'm not blessed with memories,
Of their faces, or their love,
I'll never remember special times,
Or their kisses, or their hugs.

But whenever I want...
I can go and see them,
And they always welcome me,
They reach out to me with their spirits,
And then I begin to see....

They were hard working country folk,
Just plain in every way,
They were honest and good-hearted,
Always the same, from day to day.

They 'speak' to me and let me feel,
What their lives were like back then,
They lived and worked upon this earth,
Times were so hard for them.

With these visits, I get to know them,
And it helps for me to see,
That I am a part of who they were,
And they can live on through me!

So, when I take the time to visit,
With these special folks so dear,
I am thankful that one day they lived,
And that I still feel their presence near....
