Who Can Fly?
by Rachel, Age 8

Hi, I'm Osy. I'm a bird, but I cannot fly.  I'm to big and my wings are way too small and anyway it would be crazy to see a huge bird fly.  That's what I was wondering, which birds can fly?

Look there's Melissa.  She's my friend and she's a martial eagle.  Let's go ask her.

"Hello Osy."

"Hello Melissa."  "What are you doing?"

"I'm watching over my baby brother while mom's out hunting.  Well, what do you need Osy?"

"Melissa, I was wondering, which birds fly?  Do you fly?"
"Of course I do Osy.  I have an idea.  When mom gets home I'll take you around the world to see which birds fly."........"Look, there's Mom Osy.  Are you ready to go?"

"Yes Melissa, let's go!  But Melissa how will I get across the water?"

"Like this (Melissa puts Osy on her back).  Let's go to Australia."

"See Osy, kookaburras can fly - there's Koca.  And Emus do not - Hello Emy.  And bald eagles can.  There's Bally.  Well, let's go back to where we
live...Africa."

And Osy crowed, "Cranes can fly.  There's Crownie.  Wow, thanks Melissa for showing me which birds fly."

"You're welcome Osy, but I have to get home.  Bye!"
