I love cookies! Any kind of cookies! Big ones, small ones, gooey
ones, crispy ones, home baked, store bought, bake sale... just lead me to the cookie section!!!!
As a child, my brother and I would eat the cookie dough before our
Mother would even have a chance to bake it!!!! We would sneak up and grab a gob right out of the batter bowl! What a good sport Mom was! She would say, "At least you like my cookies! Wouldn't it be a shame if I baked them and no one wanted to eat them! You're just getting a head start!"
Fat Chance!! Ha! To this day, I still love raw cookie dough!
Now, there are cookies, and there are COOKIES!! The skinny, flat cookie is ok, but not too exciting! Usually ginger or sugar. Nice,
but nothing to write home about. Then there is the cookie press
cookie. Why do they all taste the same when they look so pretty? No flavor, a little stale and cardboardy! Not my favorite. The peanut butter cookie is very nice, with the criss- cross marks across the top to signify the "true blue" peanut flavor. And of course, the good old standard, chocolate chip, which far outshines many a fancy pants cookie!Then there is the old fashioned drop cookies, with their oatmeal, nuts, m and m's, raisins, chocolate chips, made big and soft, with enough nutrition for a complete meal! Now THAT is a cookie!
Cut out cookies are fun! Some have little faces that you bite off,
so you will not have to feel guilty while eating the rest of the
body! They have wonderful icing on them, sweet enough to curl your toes! Nice for the holidays and pretty on a serving platter!!!Date cookies, pecan sandies, Chips Ahoy, fig newtons.. the list goes on and on.It warms my heart! I love em' all!!!!!
I will share these cookies with you. I might even offer you milk or
coffee to wash them down. Or, we could have a cookie tea party! That sounds exciting!
Very soon my Girl Scout cookies will arrive. "Oh, Be still my
heart!!!!" The anticipation of my VERY FAVORITE cookies is almost
more then I can stand!!!!I will put them in the freezer, and eat only a few each day. I will not offer you one of my favorite cookies. Do not ask. They are ALL MINE!!!!
If I see you near my freezer, I will cut your hand off! (or at least
maim you for life!) You will not see me eating these cookies, for I
eat them in secret. It is just between me and my cookie.
