Never Let It Fade Away

Her cheeks like rosy red apples,
Her eyes a deep emerald green,
Long golden curls are surrounding
The most precious face ever seen.
Dressed in a gown of soft flannel,
In her small hand she's holding a dove,
A halo of delicate rosebuds,
As she looks down on us from above.
A fluffy white cloud is her cushion,
As she waits on her chubby knees,
For the cherub on a neighboring cloud,
To fly over on heaven's soft breeze.
But he's too busy to notice her,
This little one dressed all in blue,
There are glistening stars just out of reach,
And he's determined to catch one or two.
She watches intently at his attempts,
Until finally there's one in his hand,
He gives a big grin and throws it to her,
But she misses...it falls toward the land.
Leaning over the clouds they watch it go,
Across the night darkened sky,
Falling ever so gently to the earth,
Into the pocket of some passerby.
The two cherubs started to giggle,
They'd have to play that game again soon,
And from the light of their precious smiles,
A halo was formed 'round the moon.
